Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
The movie
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was released on June 30, 1971. The movie was based on the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, by Roald Dahl, starring Peter Ostrum as Charlie Bucket, and Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. This movie, and the book it is based on, inspired many children’s plays and productions, and a Broadway Musical. The movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory describes Charlie Bucket’s journey through a chocolate factory belonging to Willy Wonka, a famous candy creator. Charlie, along with Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, and Mike Teavee, four other children of the same age go on a tour of the factory, accompanied by an adult family member. Along the way, the children break the rules, and at the end of the tour, Charlie gets a prize he would have never imagined. I, myself, have never read the book, but I enjoy the movie. I rate the movie 4.5 stars out of 5. You might enjoy it- so why not watch it? (Make sure you don’t get it confused with the 2005 movie – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – I don’t know about you….but it looks a little creepy to me!)
