Have you ever heard of this Holiday, but don’t known what it was? Well, after you’ve read this article, you can say Goodbye to that predicament.
First: Where it originated. St. Patrick’s Day is an Irish holiday, and is celebrated on March 17, the death date of Saint Patrick, the most important patron saint of the country, even though he was born in Britannia, in 386 AD. (I bet you didn’t know that. But good for you if you did!)
Second: Why is it associated with the color green? People wear green on St. Patrick’s day because of a tradition; green is invisible to leprechauns, and they won’t pinch you if they can’t see you
Third (and last): Why is it associated with shamrocks? St. Patrick’s day lore says that Saint Patrick used the leaves as a metaphor for the Holy Trinity; The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit.
That’s pretty much all I can tell you on St. Patrick’s day. To learn more, you can look up information on this holiday, or go to the local library if it’s open. That’s all for today!
